Grant Line Road to Prairie City Road Ribbon Cutting Event: February 4 at 10:00 a.m.
Sacramento, CA. Feb. 3, 2014 — The Sacramento County Department of Transportation (SACDOT) is hosting a ribbon-cutting event to celebrate completion of the White Rock Road Improvement Project. White Rock Road serves commuters as well as local traffic between the communities of Rancho Cordova, Folsom, El Dorado Hills, the Sacramento County unincorporated area and beyond. This project constructed significant improvements along one stretch of the roadway from Grant Line Road to Prairie City Road. Information about the ribbon-cutting event is as follows:

Major elements of this project include:
- The project starts 1,700 feet west of the existing Grant Line Road/White Rock Road intersection and concludes approximately 1,500 feet east of the White Rock Road/Prairie City Road intersection.
- Almost two miles of White Rock Road have been realigned between the new intersections.
- White Rock Road was also realigned to intersect with Grant Line Road approximately 600 feet south of the old intersection.
- The road was widened to two lanes in each direction with paved shoulders and a raised landscaped median.
- The landscaped median is unique in several ways; it does not have a conventional connection to a water supply, the plant material that was selected was chosen for its tolerance to drought and includes decorative hardscape to limit the amount of area needed to be irrigated. The median landscaping part of the project includes: 1,370 drought tolerant plants; and 78,000 square-feet of hydro-seeded, drought tolerant native grasses.
- The Grant Line Road and Prairie City Road intersections were widened to accommodate turning lanes and new traffic signals.
- The construction contract for this project is $8.5 million, and is funded with Proposition 1B State Bond program funds and Sacramento County Transportation Development Fees. DeSilva Gates Construction was the project contractor.
