Got an Early Morning Flight out of Terminal A?

Arrive 2 Hours Early

Sacramento, CA. November 8, 2017 – Sacramento International Airport (SMF) advises passengers flying out of Terminal A in the early morning to arrive two hours in advance of departure.  Weekday mornings from 5 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. are the most congested.

American Airlines, Delta and United Airlines fly out of Terminal A.

The TSA security checkpoints open daily at 4 a.m. For flights leaving at or around 5:30 a.m., arriving when the checkpoint opens will allow adequate time for screening.

Sacramento International Airport recommends travelers flying out of Terminal A during peak travel times, continue to arrive two hours in advance of departure until at least January 2018.

While it is always a good idea to arrive early, the checkpoints at Terminal B have not been as impacted. Please follow your airline carrier’s recommendations for arrival in advance of departure in Terminal B.

The Sacramento County Department of Airport is responsible for planning, developing, operating and maintaining the county’s four airports: Sacramento International Airport, Executive Airport, Mather Airport and Franklin Field.  Sacramento International Airport offers more than 150 daily nonstop flights on 10 domestic and international carriers to 30 cities. The regional economic impact of the Sacramento County airport system is more than $4 billion annually.
