May Impact Travel to Sacramento International Airport. Customers advised to plan ahead and add time as appropriate
SACRAMENTO, CA. June 5, 2014 – Construction on Interstate 5 in downtown Sacramento will cause reduced traffic lanes and intermittent ramp closures the weekends of June 6-9, June 13-16, June 20-23 and Aug. 1-4. Summer is the peak travel season at Sacramento International Airport and customers are advised to plan ahead for possible delays.
During Caltrans’ Sacramento River Viaduct and West End Viaduct project, known as Sac Decked Out, two lanes of I-5 will be closed and two will remain open. Lanes in the opposite direction will be fully open.
Lane closures will be in effect between 8 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday of the affected weekends. Work on the northbound lanes of I-5 will take place June 6-9 and June 13-16. Work on southbound lanes starts June 20-23 and stops until its conclusion Aug. 1-4.
Work on I-5 coincides with the completion of the Fix50 project in midtown Sacramento.
Whether catching an outbound flight or picking up friends, customers are advised to stay informed about potential impacts by visiting http://sacdeckedout.com, monitoring local news and real-time traffic websites, and adding extra time for travel as appropriate.
