Sacramento, CA. April 22, 2014 - The Sacramento County Executive will recommend Paul Lake for appointment as head of Countywide Services. Countywide Services includes the departments of Agricultural Commissioner, Child Support, Conflict Criminal Defenders, Cooperative Extension, Coroner, Environmental Management, Health and Human Services, Human Assistance, Public Defender and Voter Registration. Currently, Lake is the Director of the Human Assistance Department and he will begin his new position on May 5.
“Paul has done a great job at the Department of Human Assistance and we are pleased to promote him to Chief Deputy of Countywide Services,” said Bradley J. Hudson, Chief Executive Officer. “He brings 25 years of local government experience and his abilities to identify and solve complex issues as well as manage controversial program issues have created an outstanding record of accountability and community service.”
Lake has been at Human Assistance for four years, managing public assistance programs including CalWORKs, CalFresh, Medi-Cal, General Assistance, as well as homeless and veteran’s programs. Prior to his County service, he worked in both the public and private sectors as a mental health worker, a social worker and in residential treatment programs. At the County, he has worked in the Department of Social Services, as a Principal Administrative Analyst for the Community Development and Neighborhood Assistance Agency, and in various management positions.
Paul earned a Master of Social Work degree from California State University Sacramento.
