Sacramento International Airport Seeks Developers to Create Solar Power Facilities

Sacramento, CA, September 29, 2014 - Sacramento International Airport is looking to the skies – literally – in an effort to reduce costs by using renewable solar power for electricity.

The airport has issued a Request for Proposal for a solar photovoltaic team to develop solar power generating facilities on one or more sites on airport property.

Terminal B received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) silver certification in 2012.  “Using solar energy is consistent with the airport’s commitment to sustainable practices”, said Director of Airports John Wheat.

“Reducing costs while using renewable energy sources a win-win,” said Director of Airports John Wheat. “We’ve seen this already in the design of Terminal B and with replacing the lights in the garage with LEDs.”

Applicants can receive a copy of the RFP by emailing Garrick Tung at TungG@saccounty.net.
