Sacramento, CA. Jan. 17, 2014 — Sacramento County has selected Steve Cantelme as the Chief of Emergency Services, effective January 13. Cantelme has been with the County since July 2011 as Deputy Chief for Emergency Services and as Interim Chief of Emergency Services since June 2013. Prior to joining the County, he worked for the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District for 28 years. He holds a Master’s degree in Organizational Management and Communication and a Bachelor’s degree in Fire Service Management, both from Sacramento State.
“We are very pleased to have Steve on board for this critical position,” said County Executive Bradley J. Hudson. “With more than 30 years of experience in the field, several with the Office of Emergency Services, he will be instrumental to planning, training and implementing emergency management services.”
His experience includes:
- Sacramento Office of Emergency Services: 2011- Present
- Yolo County Office of Emergency Services: 2011-2013
- Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District: 1982-2010
