Assistance Center Offers One-stop Shop
Sacramento, CA. - July 24, 2014 - Sacramento County knows that convenience and time are key factors for commercial building project success. Therefore, the County recently moved all commercial building services to the
Building Assistance Center at 827 7th Street. The center is a complete one-stop shop for building, planning, engineering, fire, transportation, and water resources.
“Consolidating all commercial services downtown saves time for our customers,” said County Executive Brad Hudson. “This move is part of our overall goal to provide excellent customer service to everyone who does business with Sacramento County.”
The Downtown Building Assistance Center offers several advantages. It is centrally located, it provides access to multiple County departments, and it offers validated parking for up to one hour to all of its customers who use the County garage at 725 7th Street. Visitors must bring their parking stubs to the center for validation.
“When a commercial customer comes to the downtown office they will now be able to have all their questions answered at one location,” said Chief Building Official Brian Washko. “The customer can now talk to the fire plans examiner and building plans examiner together.”
The County operates a second Building Assistance Center at 9700 Goethe Road that specializes in residential permitting. Residential customers may continue to do business at either center. Commercial customers may submit or pick up permit applications at both locations. However, for full service, commercial customers should visit the downtown center.
Both Building Assistance Centers offer video conferencing and free WiFi. The downtown center also specializes in sign permits and pools. The County’s North, East and South service centers also offer limited building inspection services. Visit the
Service Center web page for more information.
