Sacramento, CA August 11, 2014 – The Sacramento County Department of Transportation (SACDOT) is pleased to announce that the Sacramento Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) has given Transportation Project of the Year awards to the State Route 99/Elverta Road Interchange Project and the White Rock Road Improvement Project. Award recipients were honored at APWA’s annual awards event on August 8, 2014. The local chapter’s awards program recognizes public works projects that demonstrate excellence in management, administration, design, construction and community relations, as well as the alliance among the managing agency and the consultant/engineer/contractor who worked together to complete the project. Details about each project are listed below.
State Route 99/Elverta Road Interchange Project: This project was completed in October 2013, and constructed a new interchange to replace an at-grade signalized intersection at this location. - Teichert Construction was the project contractor.
- Wood Rogers Incorporated handled project design work.
White Rock Road Improvement Project: This project was completed in February 2014, and constructed significant improvements on White Rock Road between Grant Line Road and Prairie City Road. White Rock Road serves commuters as well as local traffic between the communities of Rancho Cordova, Folsom, El Dorado Hills, the Sacramento County unincorporated area and beyond.
- This $8.5 million project was funded with Proposition 1B State Bond program funds and Sacramento County Transportation Development Fees.
- DeSilva Gates Construction was the project contractor.
- PSOMAS and the SACDOT Design Section handled project design work.
